Blu is a specialized chat experience designed for commercial water facility management. Integrated with VIVO AQUATICS’ advanced water monitoring software, Blu provides real-time diagnostics, usage metrics, chemical balance monitoring, parts replacement recommendations, and comprehensive water-related information to meet any facility's needs.

  • Designing an Intuitive AI-Powered Chat Experience for Water Expertise

    Creating a seamless and effective AI chat experience for VivoAquatics Blu required balancing technical complexity with intuitive usability. While much of the AI’s functionality relied on behind-the-scenes machine learning—training the system with expert-level water management data—the real challenge was ensuring that users could naturally and efficiently interact with the chatbot to retrieve valuable insights.

    To achieve this, the UI/UX design needed to mirror familiar text-based interactions, leveraging established chat patterns that users intuitively understand. By focusing on fluid conversation design, clear response formatting, and strategically placed prompts, the interface encouraged users to ask questions freely and receive actionable, easy-to-digest information without friction.

    Additionally, because water expertise covers a range of topics—from chemical balancing to safety compliance—the chatbot’s structure had to accommodate both broad and specific inquiries while maintaining a sense of clarity, accuracy, and trust. The ultimate goal was to transform technical, data-heavy content into a user-friendly, conversational experience that felt both engaging and reliable for facility managers and water professionals alike.

  • Discovery & Research to Prototyping & Design

    • Research to understand water management technicians responsibilities.

    • Define AI bot capabilities to communicate essential water sensor data to the user via chat interface.

    • Establish user personas from facility manager, to compliance specialist, to field technician.

    • Wireframe and design visual and interactive elements in a chat interface with secondary prompt menus and alerts.

    Testing & Iteration to Launch

    • Conduct user testing with a diverse group of users with expert knowledge who are knew to AI interaction.

    • Gather feedback on ease of use, performance, and accuracy of information.

    • Iterate based on insights, refining UI elements and interactions for launch.

  • The implementation of Blu into VivoAquatics’ VivoPoint software marked a significant shift in how users interact with water management data. Instead of navigating complex dashboards filled with technical metrics, facility managers could receive direct, actionable alerts from Blu, pinpointing exactly where their attention was needed. This streamlined approach enhanced usability, reduced friction, and improved response times to potential water issues.

    Beyond its functional success, Blu is now being positioned as a strategic entry point for prospective clients, offered as a free web app to showcase VivoAquatics' technological innovation. By demonstrating the power of AI-driven insights in a simple, accessible format, Blu serves as both a valuable tool and a compelling gateway to the company’s broader services, reinforcing VivoAquatics' expertise beyond just technology.
